A delegation of 6 teachers and 49 students paid a visit to Guizhou Normal University during 2-5 June. The delegation are representatively from Singapore Ministry of Education, National University of Singapore, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore Management University and Singapore University of Technology and Design. In the morning of June 3, GZNU held a welcome ceremony for the delegation from afar in the round conference hall on Huaxi Campus. President Li Jianjun attended the ceremony and delivered a speech. Representatives of relevant units participated the ceremony and Ms. Pei Jun, Director of Office of International Exchange and Cooperation, presided over the welcoming ceremony.
On behalf of Guizhou Normal University, President Li Jianjun extended a warm welcome and a sincere greeting to the teachers and students from Singapore. He briefly introduced the basic situation of GZNU from its history, international exchanges and other aspects. He pointed out that this activity is an important part of China - ASEAN education exchange year. GZNU will focus on the theme of the education year - "priority of education, realization of dream," to further promote the continuous development of education between China and ASEAN, and between China and Singapore, and strengthen the mutual understanding and friendship between the youths of China and Singapore through the activities of visiting the campus, listening to the introduction of the construction of Big Data in Guizhou province, theme seminars, etc. Finally, he sincerely wished the success of the exchange activities, and wished the delegation have a good time in Guizhou.
Ong Eng Hong, head of the delegation, thanked GZNU for the warm reception. He said that the colorful activities helped students to learn more about Chinese culture and customs of Guizhou, bringing new elements to the exchange, and also giving it new meanings. He hopes students from both countries can establish deep friendship during the visit.
After the welcome ceremony, Professor Zhang Xiaosong gave a lecture titled "Culture Sample: the Unknown Southwest of China - Cultural Diversity and the Shared Development of ASEAN", explaining the uniqueness and value of Guizhou Mountain Culture to the guests.
During their stay, the Singapore delegation visited the school library, University Science and Technology Park, the Key Laboratory of Information and Computing Science, and had further exchange and discussion with Chinese students in the activity themed as "Campus Culture and Creating a Future with Entrepreneurship".
